Stain Color Options

By special request we can use any stain or finish you specify for your barrel carving, barrel clock, table top or other product we offer (e.g. in order to match other woodwork).   However we have found that the following MinWax stain color options span the range of popular choices for most customers.   When choosing a stain color, remember that its the “background” to your carvings, text and paintings (if any), so consider what will provide good contrast.  Also, for rich 3D carvings the darker stains tend to show more texture and depth because they darken the exposed end-grain in the carvings more.  As a result, adding paint or glaze to the text carvings is not as important with the darker stains, as plenty of contrast is provided without it.
