These 4 large cask heads in the newest Fogo de Chao restaurant in San Diego feature fancy replaceable name plaques, detailed framed cross braces and authentic antique hardware.
Hospitality designers and owners are always looking for ways to create unique restaurant dining & drinking experiences that transport their guests to inviting, comfortable, interesting, emotionally charged places. The atmospheres of old cask and barrel rooms in working wineries, breweries and distilleries are perfect examples. Creating this experience is a hot & growing trend in hospitality décor design today. Our old and authentic looking large cask heads, as well as the smaller wine barrel art décor we make from retired wine barrels, are the focal points in that atmosphere. Virtually any artwork can be carved and optionally painted on them, from simple text to logos to rich 3d carvings.
The beauty, quality and authenticity of these wine décor pieces are truly stunning, and the strong visceral impact they have on people is virtually universal.
We work closely with restaurant, bar and pub designers, architects and owners to help them realize their creative vision. We integrate a highly aesthetic design sensibility with old world artisanship and state of the art design and production technology, to produce custom decorative winery/brewery/distillery décor features for restaurants, bars and clubs.

Here’s a small sampling of some restaurant, bar and pub décor projects to give you a sense of the possibilities.
These 5′ diameter wine tank heads are in the bar of the new Fogo de Chao restaurant in Las Vegas.
They were designed, constructed and finished from scratch using re-claimed oak planks and beams, real antique hardware, beautifully carved winery logos, and highly distressed finishing to realize the designer’s vision that they had been sawn off the ends of 100+ year old wine tanks.
Per Cliff Maillet, Corporate Architect, Fogo de Chão
“Wine has always been a large part of the Fogo de Chao culture and dining experience. This is by far the most interesting feature that we have created to express this mindset. We want to celebrate the role that wine plays in a fine dining experience at Fogo de Chao. Hence our giant glass enclosed wine room that is visible from the entry, bar and dining room in conjunction with the oversized wine casks in the Bar area.
eWoodArt did a superb job on these, we are all very pleased with their craftsmanship. Its the details that sells the authenticity.”
Below left is a similar installation in Fogo’s Boston restaurant, and below right is another (with smaller 42″ heads) in their Chicago restaurant.
This 30-barrel “pyramid stack” is in the Wine Cellar dining room in the elegant new Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille in Dallas.
Per Charles Lambert, Design Director, Identity Architects
“Mr. Perry (President & CEO, Perry’s Restaurants) wanted a recessed private dining room that took on the feel of an old Wine Cellar. He wanted a room that was warm and interesting, but also different from anything they have ever had previously. We incorporated stone walls, a vintage door, and mosaic marble ceiling with wood beams. …we quickly realized that there was not enough space to do a full wall of side stacked barrels. Thankfully, we quickly came across eWoodArt.com ! They had already perfected the concept including the capability to carve the various winery logos onto the barrel heads. Tom was very instrumental in guiding us in the best direction that would support our authentic vision.
When Mr. Perry first saw the completed room, he said “I LOVE IT! The barrels really make this Wine Cellar the room that I had envisioned.” We too are very pleased with the unique outcome. And with 2 more new restaurants on the drawing board, we hope to have the opportunity to work with eWoodArt again!”
These “wine tasting tables” are in the Bridlewood Estate Winery tasting room. The tops are our standard “tenth barrel” made from the end of a 60 gallon burgandy barrel, mated to our very unique and elegant stave table stand. Both are finished to a fine-furniture grade finish.
John Kochis, General Manager, Bridlewood Estate Winery (a division of E. & J. Gallo)
“Our tasting room staff and visitors love the new Bridlewood barrel head tables. They provide a unique & attractive feel that creates a more intimate tasting experience.”
